Water For Life: Post-Ebola Sanitation
During the Ebola crisis in 2014 in Sierra Leone, it became apparent that whilst health professionals were recommending frequent hand washing with soap and warm water, in most villages, there was no access to local water and no enhanced sanitation facilities available. Humanity First decided to start with the next generation, so embarked on a project to install enhanced toilet facilities in 11 schools with plumbed water, and also trained the children in the importance of good hygiene for health. Feedback has been that these children have taken this knowledge back to their villages to spread the practice.
The Water for Life Programme provides access to clean water for villages and small towns in low-income communities. We need your support and donations to keep providing access to clean water for people in need.
