Food Security

Food Security

Humanity First International’s Food Security Programme aims to fight hunger, malnutrition, and support starving children by implementing both short-term relief and long-term sustainable strategies.

Our food parcels and rations provide immediate relief with hot, fresh, healthy food, while our long-term plans focus on building stronger, more efficient farms. By providing modern technology along with promoting more effective agricultural practices, local people and farmers able to progress from needing help to benefit their local communities.

World hunger is a prevalent and yet entirely preventable and fixable problem. With your help, we can do our part in combating starvation and hunger crises around the globe, in the hopes of a brighter future for all.

Save lives and donate today.

Hunger crisis in numbers

According to the World Health Organisation, around 773 million people faced hunger in 2023, equivalent to 1 in 11 people globally. A further 2.33 billion people suffered from moderate to serious malnutrition – a statistic that has not changed since the sharp increase in 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The majority of unfortunate individuals who suffer from this are concentrated primarily in Asia and especially Africa, where more than 50% of the populace are marred by severe food insecurity. Economic challenges such as poverty, coupled with a lack of a strong agricultural sector results in a fragile infrastructure for food production in the countries most affected.

There is more than enough food in the world to go around for everyone, and yet this is not the case. If current trends were to continue, then it is estimated that almost 582 million people in the world will be at risk of famine by 2030, with half of this number in Africa.

Food Banks

Humanity First International understands that along with not being able to afford food, some individuals may not be able to cook it either, due to rising gas and electricity prices. Our food banks in the USA provide relief to families stricken by poverty, who have to stretch every single dollar between pay cheques.

The rising cost of living, along with conflicts raging across the world, has resulted in higher rates of poverty and, consequently, limited economic access to food—let alone healthy food. Even those who can afford food often cannot afford nutritious options, leading to malnutrition and poor health.

Humanity First International promises to provide fresh, hot, nutritional meals in our numerous food banks, prioritising the well-being and care of its users beyond all else. With over a million beneficiaries of our services, we have made a significant contribution to the lives of many, ensuring that they do not have to go to bed hungry or skip meals throughout the day.

Food Distributions

Climate change has become a devastating threat to the globe in recent years. Tsunamis, hurricanes, tornados and other tropical storms have become all too common, and while the damage to infrastructure and buildings is widely reported, farmland and agriculture also takes a massive hit.

Just one cyclone is able to rip through multiple farms across a country and destroy what would have otherwise been a bountiful harvest for the citizens whose lives depend on it. Humanity First International aims to provide immediate emergency relief to countries affected by natural disasters, distributing tens of thousands of food packs and rations to families unfortunate enough to have been caught in the destruction.

Artificial disasters are also of great concern, with global conflicts becoming all the more prevalent as tensions rise across the world stage. Millions of people are affected by war, being forced to leave behind all their belongings to live in camps where food is stretched impossibly thin. Our teams deploy without fail in these areas in order to alleviate the pressure thrust upon these people, distributing food and medical care where they can.

Our Vision

Our aim is to end hunger around the world. We have already established services such as food banks, distribution centres, and improved farms in 64 countries, ranging from the USA to Asia and Africa. However, our goal is to expand our reach to even more countries.
To break the cycle of poverty and starvation, we go beyond simply providing food parcels by offering sustainable solutions with a lasting impact that creates self-sufficiency within local communities.

Sustainable Solutions to Fight Hunger

The most effective way to combat world hunger is not merely through the distribution of food packs, which offer only short-term relief, but through investing in sustainable farming in regions lacking the resources to implement it themselves. Many countries in Africa and Asia suffer from widespread poverty, leaving them without the funds needed to build a strong agricultural sector. Local communities working these farms are often no better off—only able to grow just enough food to barely survive.

We have already made a difference in the lives of millions, but it is still not enough. Global conflicts, economic recessions, and unprecedented shifts on the world stage mean that hunger continues to rise despite our efforts. As a result, the need for volunteers and donations has never been greater. With your generously donated time and money, we are able to train volunteers, distribute food packs, provide agricultural kits, and establish modern, high-tech farms in the regions that need them most.

From Subsistence Farming to Thriving Communities

One of Humanity First International’s goals is to help people to benefit their local communities. As such, alongside introducing newer, more modern technologies in order to help automate some of the labour intensive tasks of farming, we promote solutions regarding effective agricultural practice and sustainable methods. These include crop rotation, natural pest management and proper water management, in order to promote both the longevity of the farm while not sacrificing on the quality of the produce.

With our solutions, the farmers of these communities are able to progress from subsistence to commercial farming, allowing more people in the surrounding areas to access food while helping the local community pull themselves out of poverty and start living more comfortable lives.

Alongside the benefits to local communities, our solutions allow farmers to develop from subsistence to commercial farming, allowing them to reap the economic benefits and pull themselves and their families out of poverty.
